The Bluebird Care 5K will become an annual event to raise funds to support local charities. These include children with complex needs, young adults with physical, sensory, intellectual, social needs, mental health problems and care of the older person.
Órán Nibbs, from Trentagh was diagnosed with Mitochondrial Disease, a rare and progressive condition with no known cure, in March 2012, a month before his third birthday.
At the young age of three, Órán has faced more medical challenges than most of us would in a lifetime. Working very closely with parents Ashling and Colm to provide respite care for Órán in his home in Trentagh, the team at Bluebird Care (Donegal and Leitrim) decided to host the upcoming 5K with 100% funds raised going towards improving Órán’s quality of life.
Director of Bluebird Care (Donegal and Leitrim) Marty Kelly says, “We are delighted to launch the inaugural Bluebird Care 5K Fun Run/ Walk. The event has been set up to recognise and support local groups, individuals or their families who need support. This year we are supporting the Nibbs family, to help Órán receive vital medical treatment in America”
“With some great prizes, generously donated by local business up for grabs it will be a great day out for all. So come along and help us do the distance to make a difference”
Ashling Nibbs, Órán’s mother says,“We are so appreciative to the team at Bluebird Care for their great help and support to Órán and to all of us as a family each day. In a show of even further support staff and management are geared up to take on a 5K challenge, raising vital funds to improve the quality of little Órán’s life. Thank you from the bottom of my heart”
