MEDIA RELEASE: Bluebird Care Announces Jobs Boost for Midlands

30 jobs to be created in Longford, Roscommon and Westmeath in 2017

Bluebird Care, an independent home care provider in Longford, Roscommon and Westmeath (LRW) will create 30 jobs in the region over the next 12 months. Bluebird Care opened its offices in, Monksland, Athlone on the 7th September 2015 and is a HSE approved provider of a comprehensive range of quality health and social care services in the community, for people of all ages and diverse needs. They also provide services to the the private sector.

Service provision is nurse-led and all care staff are trained to place the customer at the heart and centre of every interaction and to provide care with kindness, compassion, consideration and respect.

Mr Oliver Daly, Managing Director/Owner, MSc is a passionate advocate of care in the home as distinct from institutional care. He says, “We are independently audited by EIQA and hold the Q Mark for quality and this ensures that our customers and the HSE can be confident in the knowledge that we deliver quality care and to the people who use our services.

“We have lived up to our commitment of last year by creating 60 jobs.  We have a dedicated and trained staff that are providing essential services to over 200 customers over the three counties and we wish to extend this service by hiring 30 additional staff over the next 12 months.

“Our absolute priority is to enable people to live independent and fulfilled lives in their own surroundings, among family and friends; to provide service delivered by an efficient team of health care professionals”.

We at Bluebird Care understand the key role that qualified and dedicated staff play in the home care sector, and welcome the comments made by Phelim Quinn, from HIQA in relation to the statutory regulation of all domiciliary care services and community based services, during a recent meeting with the Oireachtas Future of Healthcare Committee.

Mr. Quinn informed the Committee that, “HIQA supports the extension of home care packages, but is concerned about the vulnerabilities of people in receipt of personal care and support services within their homes. Therefore, we must extend statutory regulation to cover all domiciliary care services, and other community-based social services, in order to ensure that vulnerable people are safe and receiving the best-possible support”.

Oliver Daly says, “We in Bluebird want to see regulation and have publicly called for it for many years. We believe the development and introduction of National Standards within this sector and their subsequent implementation and monitoring is key to the provision and delivery of safe quality care to all service users/customers who access such services.”

Oliver is inviting those interested in embarking on a carer in home care or a career change to, “Come and talk to us at our forthcoming open days in Athlone, Mullingar, Longford and Boyle or call to our office in Monksland Athlone.”
