Job Description

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • Providing the highest standard of care to the client in their own home.
  • Provide skilled assessment and intervention for children with chronic, complex and/or life-threatening conditions and their families.
  • Provide clinical consultation as active member of interdisciplinary care team.
  • Attend to system dynamics of the health care delivery network to foster best use of resources, effective service delivery, and patient and family satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with practice standards and codes.
  • Advocate for interventions that alleviate burden and facilitate coping for chronic illness.
  • Collaborate with family and team to identify options, goals and priorities for care for advanced care planning.

Essential Criteria

  • Must be registered with An Bord Altranais
  • Minimum of two years post-registration experience in hospital, community or nursing home setting
  • Experience working with children or adults with disabilities
  • Ability to work under own initiative
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Desire to work in community setting
  • Thorough knowledge of HIQA standards and regulations

Relevant qualifications, training and experience:

The CNM2 must be a Registered Nurse, on the live register of NMBI with a minimum of 2 years nursing management experience in acute services.

It is essential for this post holder to have a background in medical and or surgical nursing.

It would be advantageous to have experience / qualification in A&E Nursing, Triage, Medical Assessment, Pre-Operative Clinics and ICU.

Bluebird Care Carlow/Kilkenny/Wateford Welcomes Gillian Corcoran

Bluebird Care Carlow/Kilkenny/Waterford welcomed a new Care Co-ordinator this month. Gillian Corcoran has significant experience across a wide range of care-related areas and Brian Egan and his team are delighted to have her on board.

Gillian will be based at the Waterford office on the Cork Road in Waterford City but will be working on the co-ordination side with Annmarie Nolan in the Carlow/Kilkenny office. Gillian’s introduction will ensure the Bluebird Care team continue to have strong support in place for our staff and clients throughout the local area.

Gillian has has a BA in Applied Social Studies from Waterford Institute of Technology as well as numerous qualifications in care related subjects which she has supplemented with administrative qualifications so this makes her an ideal candidate for the position of Care Co-ordinator with Bluebird Care.

Brian Egan, Managing Director says, “Gillian has gained valuable experience as a Social Care worker and as a Social Care Manager and this experience will be invaluable as she works with our staff and clients in Bluebird Care. Focus on Training in Carlow, Kilkenny & Waterford

Training and continuing professional development is an important aspect of Bluebird Care’s staff development programme. Evidence of this is the recent training undertaken by the team in Carlow, Kilkenny and Waterford.

Director Brian Egan says his staff show a great willingness to complete on the job training and have an appetite to learn new skills. “In the past six weeks we have completed a series of training courses which add value to our customers’ care.”
