Before we commence work with a client a comprehensive Care Needs & Risk Assessment are carried out. This ensures that the Care Plan we put in place is fully person centred and tailored to the needs of the customer and their loved ones.
Our range of services includes but is not limited to the following:
- personal care (i.e. assistance with washing and dressing)/
- grocery shopping
- overnight care
- assistance with mobility including hoists and other equipment,
- walking and light exercise
- accompanying to appointments or other excursions
- prompting medication
- light housework duties, including laundry
- preparing nutritious meals and or assisting with feeding
- morning or night assistance with bedtime routines
- assistance with household bills etc.
Regardless, of the services our customers require they all enjoy a visit from their friendly, cheerful homecare assistant.
Who are our staff?
At Bluebird Care Cork we are very proud of our care team and nurses. Our team are friendly, caring and qualified to the appropriate standards for their role. We have a very diverse skill set to meet the varying needs of our customers including Social Care workers, Nurses, OT’s, Healthcare Assistants and PA’s.
Our Care Managers are highly experienced, motivated and are continually supervising our Care staff to ensure quality standards are maintained to highest level expected by our customers.
Our staff are fully Garda Vetted and have completed all relevant mandatory training, such as, induction and patient moving and handling.
All our care staff are provided with on-going Continuous Personal Development (CPD) courses through our on-line etraining facility. We also provide “customer specific” tailored training courses as the need arises.
Who do we work with?
Bluebird Care Cork work with a range of healthcare professionals such as social workers, public health nurses, physiotherapists and occupational therapists. It’s necessary and essential for us to work closely with these individuals to ensure every aspect of our customers care needs are being met on a daily basis.
We are a preferred supplier to the HSE older persons and disability services and work throughout the county in both a private and HSE funded capacity

The first step
The first step is to arrange for a Care Needs Assessment to be carried out in your own home. If phoning on behalf of a family member, he or she must be present, if possible, at the time of the assessment in order for us to involve them fully and ensure that the Care Plan that follows is person centred and fully meets their needs.

Don has owned and managed a very successful insurance brokerage business in Cork for the past 20 years. He has vast experience in dealing with staff and customers, problem solving while ensuring that business runs smoothly to everyone’s benefit.
Educated in Christian Brothers College, Cork, he subsequently graduated from University College Cork in 1981 with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree. Initially, Don trained as an accountant and therefore brings a highly professional approach to business.
Don joined the Bluebird Care team in March 2012 following an intensive training course in headoffice and now owns and operates Bluebird Care in Cork City & Suburbs with Sally Madden.
Sally was instrumental in setting up Bluebird Care Cork in March 2012 following an intensive training course in Head Office. Sally is a Director of the company and also Care Manager.
Sally brings vast experience and leadership to the role and has developed a very experienced team around her to ensure that the Cork office delivers the best quality care possible.
Sally holds FETAC Level 6 (Merit) in Gerontology and FETAC Level 5 (Distinction) in Palliative Care Support.
Educated in Ursuline Convent Blackrock, Sally is well known for her organisational and caring abilities.
Stephanie joined the Bluebird Care team in 2013 as a carer and more recently has taken on the role of Care Coordinator. She holds a BA (Hons) in Applied Social Studies in Social Care. Stephanie has many years experience working with older persons, children and adults with physical and intellectual disabilities as well as international communities.
Stephanie assists with our staff planning and office admin. She also liaises with clients and carers to ensure the smooth running of the service.
Stephanie is passionate about helping vulnerable groups in society and has volunteered her time with many organisations at home and abroad including the Samaritans, The Hope Foundation, The International Resource Centre and Muscular Dystrophy Ireland.
Sinead is a qualified Paediatric and General Nurse who joined the Bluebird Care Team in 2014. She has extensive experience which she brings to the team, having worked in different hospital environments both at home and abroad. Sinead is responsible for assessing new clients and implementing appropriate care plans.
She provides support and supervision to both staff and clients to ensure high standards of care are being provided in the community.
Nicola joined Bluebird Care in April 2016 as a Care Coordinator. Nicola comes with ten years experience in Administration. She has completed her FETAC L5 and feels that it has helped her to better understand her role. She also gets involved with the weekly rosters and schedules for all care staff, and deals with the daily queries from clients and care staff, ensuring all needs are met accordingly. Nicola enjoys her role in the healthcare industry since joining Bluebird Care.
In her spare time Nicola likes to partake in triathlons and adventure races around Ireland.
