We are fortunate to have a large team of home care workers and management staff at our Bluebird Care offices in Donegal and Leitrim. Which is just as well – such is our enhanced and growing reputation that we support and look after more than 200 individuals in this part of Ireland.
Our clients range in age from early childhood (2 years) to the very elderly (98 years) and, as you would expect, come to us with a range of needs. These include personal care services such as assistance in caring for themselves as well as light household duties. Then again, our team also provides the essential element of companionship which, at times, can involve simply having a chat over a cuppa or a more structured meeting involving an appointment with the client’s doctor, hairdresser etc.
Services we provide
- Preparing meals
- Lighting fires
- Escorting to appointments
Around 40 per cent of our clients are elderly while the remainder tend to be children and young people who require help with intellectual or sensory, as well as physical conditions.
Despite the varying needs outlined above, most of our clients share a similar criteria in that all require ongoing, long-term support. Here at Bluebird Care we believe this can be far more beneficial than temporary support because it very often allows a special relationship to build up between client and home carer – and which is appreciated by both.
A management team of eight individuals co-ordinate and ensure the smooth running of care at home services. We currently have well in excess of 100 carers on our books and all have a minimum qualification of FETAC level five. Many of our staff have in fact provided home care for decades.
Because of the discrepancy in the length of service and experience our carers come with, we feel it’s very important here at Bluebird Care in Donegal and Leitrim to insist on ongoing training for all our staff.
As well as manual handling training and information/guidance on particular conditions such as spinal injuries, dementia etc, our employees are required to complete e-learning modules on a monthly basis. This ensures they are up-to-date with the latest skills and technique in the home care industry.
Why we’re special here at Bluebird Care Donegal & Leitrim
Well, for starters we are the leading provider of Enhanced Homecare in Donegal (this was officially recognised last year at an award ceremony). We not only provide private care at home for individuals in Ireland, but have also won numerous public sector contracts since setting up the company five years ago.
Our success is based on three large selling points
Our staff. The biggest reason Bluebird Care has impressed so many individuals and public sector organizations over our relatively short time in the home care business, is the fact that are staff are extremely caring, enthusiastic and 100 per cent committed to their clients. All staff are employed directly by ourselves meaning we never rely on outside ‘bank’ staff.
Our flexibility. We don’t have a care model that we fit clients into. Rather, the client’s needs come first. That means we will adapt the care and support we provide to accommodate the needs of our client (and not the other way around). Clients have choices when it comes to when they would like their care and from whom (ie the carer should be someone they feel happy with).
Our management. Why our management? Well, unlike many other care providers in Ireland we are a local company. By that we mean we are located in the heart of Letterkenny, where many of our registered nurses and senior staff are already part of the community and familiar to a lot of our clients and their families.
