As one of the most popular providers of home care services in Ireland, our Dublin South branch of Bluebird Care has gone from strength to strength since opening its doors in the Sandyford area of the city three years ago. This is obviously great news for our staff. But more importantly, it has also provided reassurance and ongoing comfort for those we care for.
That’s because our clients know that we are going to be around to look after and support them for however long they need our help. Not only that but they will benefit from the same high standards and consistency of care they have always enjoyed from Bluebird Care – thanks to our dedicated and motivated team of care workers.
As many companies would testify – particularly those in the growing home care sector – a business and its reputation is only as good as its staff. And that’s why we insist on ongoing training and specialist advice sessions at Bluebird Care. For instance, we recently held seminars on Huntington’s Diseases and another on the topic of dealing with challenging behaviour. On that note we will always listen to staff who feel they require updated information or training regarding a client’s particular condition.
What type of care do we offer?
The majority of our clients here at the Bluebird Care Dublin South branch are aged 70 or over. As you would expect, this means that early dementia provision features highly in our care packages. Companionship is especially important in this respect and indeed some of our clients don’t necessary need help with personal care but simply look forward to – and very much appreciate – a regular visit and chat from their dedicated care worker.
At present we currently provide care ‘non-medical care’ in Dublin South. This could involve help around the clock from getting a client out of bed, washed and dressed in the morning through to getting him or her to bed at night. There is also a whole range of – sometimes daily – activities and tasks in between.
During the day for instance we could be taking a client out for a walk or to visit a particular venue. Our team may also find themselves preparing meals for a client to ensure she or he meets the daily nutritional requirements outlined by the government. Then again our staff will help with laundry, cleaning, shopping and, in some cases where necessary, administering medication. We’ll also help with toileting assistance if a client has a particular requirement.
Every client will however, receive their own tailored care package. In other words, the support and care they receive from us will centre around what the client actually needs rather than them having to fit into a pre-determined service provision (which is often the case in larger organisations or the public sector). In summary then, we provide help with:
- Getting out of/into bed
- Medication Prompting
- Meal Preparation
Who are our staff?
Our staff are aged from 19 right up to their 60s and, like our clients, are both male and female. All are qualified workers with a Fetac V in a care discipline such as Social Work, Pre-Nursing or as have a Carers certificate. We also have two nurses working in the team; both are trained in administering medical procedures.
Why choose Bluebird Care Dublin South over other care services?
The feedback and testimonials that we have received over the years from clients and their families speak more than we could (see below) but from a management point of view we pride ourselves on being more flexible than other home care providers in the area. We also have a quicker response rate and sound management of client’s case loads
