At Bluebird Care Galway we provide a quality home care service which, we are delighted to say, is highly-regarded and appreciated by our customers (you only have to take a look at our sample testimonials at the end of this page to see by how much). Looking after customers with a range of age related ailments, physical and intellectual disabilities, our team of skilled, caring and cheerful care staff work round the clock to ensure the needs of every Customer is met (even if that just involves a quick chat and cup of tea).

This will be our eight year caring for people in the Galway area and we can honestly say that we have enjoyed every minute of it. That we believe shows too in the care we provide. So who are the wonderful carers that we employ?

Our well-qualified and cheerful care staff

We have a large Customer-base here in Galway and as a result our home care team is pretty sizeable. They range in skills and knowledge from Management level to Care Co-coordinators, Care and Personal Assistants.

As far as our own team of qualified  Care and Personal Assistants is concerned, all have a FETAC / QQI Level 5 certificate in Health Care. Many have nursing qualifications while others have a health-related or Social Care background. As a company Bluebird Care provides ongoing training for all our staff through our monthly Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programme. This can take the form of seminars or e-learning and results in specialist instruction in particular conditions such as dementia, spinal injuries, intellectual challenges and the aging process.

What type of clients do we care for?

Our clients don’t fit any particular box but range in age and abilities. For instance some individuals are capable of making their own meals and washing/dressing but perhaps need help outwith the home when it comes to attending appointments or taking exercise. Some individuals, especially those with dementia, need reassurance and companionship.

What type of care do we provide?

We provide ongoing care over a period of months or years. But we are also happy to supply respite care over a period of a few days and up to several months for parents and carers who need a break. Then again we can also provide help for someone who has just been released from hospital and finding it a bit difficult to get around.

Our services are as follows (although this is not an exhaustive list):

  • Personal care (i.e. help with getting out of bed and washing/dressing etc.)
  • Preparing food, cooking and washing up
  • Light housework duties such as wiping surfaces, putting away clothing, laundry, vacuuming  etc.
  • Companionship
  • Accompaniment with exercise (i.e. walking)
  • Partnership for appointments e.g. GP, dentist, chiropodist etc.

The Team

Sean Lyons
Managing Director

Originally from Tynagh (famous for the Tynagh Mines) Sean is married and currently living in Loughrea with business interests in Galway City and Athenry.

Sean has been involved in healthcare since 2001 and he opened Bluebird Care (Galway) in October 2008. Sean is passionate about providing an excellent quality service to all his customers and is currently working towards achieving the Q Mark and ISO 9000 quality standards which will publicly demonstrate his commitment to delivering a top Quality Service.

Sean is very proud of the excellent team that he and Carolyn Corless the Care Manager have built up in Bluebird Care, Galway, dedicated to delivering the highest level of service in the caring industry today.

Carolyn Corless
Care Manager

From Galway City Carolyn is married to Gary with two sons.

Carolyn started working with Bluebird Care in October 2008 and has worked in every position within the company throughout its rapid growth. Carolyn currently manages a large team of staff in Galway and she is fully committed to delivering an excellent service to all our customers.

Carolyn says “Since becoming the Care Manager here in Galway I have a daily opportunity to interact with both customers and staff which is something that gives me great pleasure. My role also gives me an excellent opportunity to put all the management skills that I have developed over the years to good use while helping many people in the community.”

Maria Nevin
Assistant Care Manager / Supervisor

Maria Nevin, Deputy Care Manager - Originally from Craughwell and currently living outside Loughrea, Maria has completed FETAC 5, a BA in European Studies and a Higher Diploma in Business Studies.

Maria brings to the team her extensive experience having working in caring, administrative and management roles before joining Bluebird Care in June 2010.

Maria enjoys her daily interaction with customers and carers and strives to provide excellent customer service every day.

Martina Molloy
Care Coordinator

Following the completion of a FETAC business course, I was employed with a large construction company in an office manager/PA role for 6yrs. During my time with the company I undertook a ACCA certified accounting technician course. I have 4 years’ experience working in an administration role in a busy Insurance brokers where I undertook the required insurance exams with in the Insurance Institute of Ireland.

From my experience in the front office of both companies, meeting with the general public raised my interest in working with people as did caring in the home for a family member. I joined Bluebird Care in September 2012 and I work as a Homecare Support worker and part-time coordinator. I am in the process of completing the FETAC Level 5 in Healthcare Support qualification (Major Award) which I will achieve by the end of 2014.

Susan Gloster
Care Coordinator

Susan began working with Bluebird Care in May 2012 as a care assistant, a role which Susan says she “found to be very rewarding”. Promoted to the position of Care Coordinator in March 2012 her daily tasks include communicating with staff and clients and preparation of carer rota's.

Susan’s says that her new role brings many new challenges which she thoroughly enjoys and she feels her previous experience as a Care Assistant makes it much easier to relate to both staff and customers alike.

Carolyn Naughton
Care Coordinator

Carolyn is one of our Care Coordinators and is from Knocknacarra in Galway.

Carolyn has Commerce Degree from NUI Galway and started with Bluebird Care as a Care Assistant in 2013. Carolyn then took on the role as Coordinator where she endeavours to provide the highest quality of customer service on a daily basis.
