At Bluebird Care here in Galway we provide a quality home care service which, we are delighted to say, is highly-regarded and appreciated by our clients (you only have to take a look at our testimonials at the end of this page to see by how much). Looking after clients with a range of physical and intellectual disabilities, our team of skilled, caring and cheerful care staff work round the clock to ensure the needs of every client is met (even if that just involves a quick chat and cup of tea).
This will be our seventh year caring for individuals in the Galway area and we can honestly say that we have enjoyed every minute of it. That shows too in the care we provide, we believe. So who are the wonderful carers that we employ?
Our well-qualified and cheerful care staff
We have a large client-base here in Galway and as a result our home care team is pretty sizeable. They range in skills and knowledge from Management level to Care Co-ordinators and Care Workers. We also have access to other health professionals thanks to link ups with the health services, local authorities and charities (we find usually more than one agency has involvement with clients).
As far as our own team of care workers is concerned all have – or are about to achieve – a FETAC Level 5 certificate in Health Care. Others will have nursing qualifications and other health-related or social care backgrounds. As a company Bluebird Care also provides ongoing training for all its staff. This can take the form of seminars or e-learning and results in specialist instruction in particular conditions such as dementia, spinal injuries and intellectual challenges.
What type of clients do we care for?
Our clients don’t fit any particular box but range in age and abilities. For instance some individuals are capable of making their own meals and washing/dressing but perhaps need help outwith the home when it comes to attending appointments or taking exercise. Some individuals, especially those with dementia, need reassurance and companionship. Other clients may have limited movements and require a personal 24-hour live in carer.
What type of care do we provide?
We provide ongoing care over a period of months or years. But we are also happy to supply respite care over a period of a few days and up to several months for parents and carers who need a break. Then again we can also provide help for someone who has just been released from hospital and finding it a bit difficult to get around.
Our services are as follows (although this is not an exhaustive list):
- Personal care (ie help with getting out of bed and washing/dressing etc)
- Preparing food, cooking and washing up
- Light housework duties such as wiping surfaces, putting away clothing etc
- Accompaniment with exercise (ie walking)
- Partnership for appointments eg GP, dentist, chiropodist etc
- Live-in care around the clock
Take a look at our testimonies
“The unceasing humour and cheerfulness of the ‘Bluebird Girls’ helped my father through each day. They went above and beyond the role of a carer and it was evident from their visits that they truly cared. We are truly thankful for everything they did.”
“I feel it is important to acknowledge how invaluable a service, such as Bluebird Care, and the wonderful carers are to the community and to families in difficult times and situations similar to my family. Again a sincere thank you to all and I would have no hesitation in recommending your service in the future.”
