Here at Bluebird Care in Kerry/West Cork we provide quality ongoing care and support for individuals aged from new born right up until end of life. This care takes many forms from companionship, dementia support, disability assistance, to full-time care.
It is not surprising that most individuals would prefer to live at home in an independent fashion rather than go into long-term care. We offer the option of enabling your loved one to remain at home, with the support they need.
Each client is assessed and a tailored care plan is drawn up. No two care plans are the same. We pride ourselves in delivering personalised care to each client.
Who are our staff?
Our team of 38 staff members are all caring, sympathetic and hard-working individuals who are specifically hand-picked by management. Some of our staff have spent the whole of their working lives in the field of personal care, others are only a few years in. All, however, are dedicated and friendly individuals. In addition, each of our carers are required to hold a minimum qualification of FETAC Level 5 in Healthcare, although many hold third level degrees in Social Care. This means they are experienced in areas such as general health care, manual handling of clients and First Aid. Some of our carers have further specialist qualifications in particular areas while several staff members have been trained to administer medications.
Meanwhile on-going monthly training at Bluebird Care includes subjects such as disability awareness, nutrition, dementia care, and Protection & Welfare of Children & Vulnerable Adults to name a few.
Who receives our care?
Our team are available to help any individual who needs non-medical or specialist assistance to live at home either independently or with family. For instance, we often provide respite services for family where we will share care or take over completely for several weeks at a time.
Another area we provide help with is hospital discharge where our clients need assistance in carrying out everyday tasks such as shopping and housework until they feel strong enough to tackle these areas themselves.
The majority of care we provide however is on-going and long-term. We find clients enjoy the familiarity of a regular carer and our carers, in turn, like to build up a friendship with clients.
We tailor our care packages according to what a client needs rather than imposing a standard care package in the long-term may not prove suitable.

Areas we service
Carly initially joined Kingdom Homecare in August 2014 as the Office Administrator but due to a combination of circumstances found herself in the role of acting Manager of the Company in March 2015. Carly has met the needs of all the clients in that time by ensuring top quality attention was given to every single case no matter how big or small from both herself and every care worker employed by the company from the minute each case was taken on board.
Carly has adopted a very simple philosophy to her management style. That is above all else the needs of the clients are paramount. She insists that clear communication channels exist between the company, its clients and stakeholders at all times. She carefully analysis all external factors that may have a potential impact on the organization and seeks to identify both short and long term objectives which will determine the company's policies.
Carly is available at the end of the phone to answer any client and staff queries in an efficient manner. She works closely with the rest of the team to ensure the smooth running of the Bluebird Care office.
Gerard Hartnett has responsibility for the financial operations of the company. This is a role he has undertaken on a part time basis since August 2014. When circumstances conspired to elevate Carly to the acting Manager’s role in March 2015 Gerard himself found his role of financial advisor to the company expanding.
Gerard has extensive financial management experience having worked for Kentz in the UK and Ireland, Steamboat Developments - one of the major players in the Midwest property market and Sepam Engineering in both Canada and the Middle East. Since joining Bluebird Care in August 2014 he has been responsible for all financial aspects of the master franchisee and has gained a major insight into the current homecare operations within Ireland.
Annette Gaughan RGN HDip MSc
Annette joined Bluebird as Care Manager for Kerry/West Cork in December 2015, she acquired her training as a registered nurse at St James University Hospital Leeds. Having vast experience as a senior clinical manager, Annette brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise from primary care and community settings and has an interest in in education and training.
