Here at Bluebird Care Limerick we provide home care solutions to a wide range of individuals with the sole aim of ensuring they can live independently and comfortably at home where they continue to remain part of their own community in the company of friends and family.

More and more people are opting to receive care at home these days, and according to the HSE Service Plan 2015

“A greater move towards primary and community services, as the principal means to meet people’s home support and continuing care needs is required to address this growing demand and to support acute hospital services. To respond to this challenge services for older people will continue to progress the strategic realignment of services to provide home care and other community support services in order to maximise the potential of supporting older people in their own homes close to their families and within their own local communities.”

In the majority of cases it makes both financial and emotional sense for an individual to remain in the familiar surroundings of their own home. Freedom of choice, independence and social inclusion are all critical contributing factors to maximising our customers daily lived experience and continued medical, social and psychological well-being. Bluebird Care in Limerick have a person centred focus and all our care packages are fully tailored and unique to the individual clients, in order that he or she has a direct input into the care they expect to receive.

Who are our clients?

Bluebird Care offer care services across a broad spectrum of the community, many of our customers are adults, although we also support children, toddlers, and babies. Within our local communities we care/support complex medical conditions, physical and intellectual disabilities, chronic illness, dementia, respite care and end of life care. We also provide nursing care services.

Before we embark on any care package a comprehensive care needs assessment and risk assessment are carried out. This ensures that the care plan we put in place is fully person centred and tailored to the needs of the customer and their loved ones. Our range of services includes but is not limited to the following:

  • personal care (ie assistance with washing and dressing)
  • grocery shopping
  • companionship
  • overnight care
  • assistance with mobility, walking and light exercise
  • accompanying to appointments or other excursions
  • prompting medication
  • light housework duties, including laundry
  • preparing nutritious meals and or assisting with feeding
  • Morning or Night assistance with bedtime routines
  • Full in home support

Regardless, of what services our customers require they all enjoy a visit from their friendly, cheerful homecare assistant.

Who are our home care staff?

At Bluebird Care Limerick we are very proud of our care team and Nurses. Our team are friendly, caring and qualified to the appropriate standards for their role. We have a very diverse skill set to meet the varying needs of our customers including Social Care workers, Nurses, Healthcare assistants, and PA’s. All our staff have been fully Garda Vetted and completed all relevant mandatory training such as induction and patient moving and handling.

Our care staff are all enrolled on continuous personal development courses through on-line elearning and we regularly offer customer specific tailored training courses in particular with respect to dementia care.

Who do we work with?

At Bluebird Care in Limerick we work with a range of healthcare professionals such as social workers, public health Nurses, physiotherapists and occupational therapists. It’s necessary for us to work closely with these individuals to ensure every aspect of our customers care needs are being met on a daily basis.

We are a preferred supplier to the HSE older persons and disabilities teams and work throughout the county in both a private and HSE funded capacity.

The Team

Paula McInerney
Care Manager

Paula is a qualified nurse, with community ,elderly care ,management and hospice experience. Paula also has a marketing and law qualification as  well as experience running her own business in the hospitality industry.

Paula was working as a clinical nurse manager in a 100 bed nursing home prior to joining the bluebird care team in August 2015.

She enjoys her role recruiting and training staff, undertaking customer assessments and assisting in  the day to day running of Bluebird Care ,Limerick.

She is ultimately responsible for the quality of care delivered to customers on a daily basis and enjoys visiting customers  as well as covering calls when needed.

Niamh Pilkington
Care Supervisor

Niamh joined the Bluebird Limerick team in January 2016 as a nurse supervisor. Niamh completed her nursing in London, United Kingdom and has broad experience within the acute sector such as A+E, Tropical/infectious diseases and acute medical.

Niamh enjoys her role as care supervisor as she manages the care team; recruits new employees, aids staff training and undertakes customer assessments while devising care plans for each individual looking for care. She also provides support and supervises Bluebird staff to ensure high standards of care are being provided in the community.

Niamh is also involved in the daily running of the office and covers care calls if necessary. Niamh enjoys meeting her clients and staff out in the community which enables her to interact and participate their care.

Louise Collins
Care Co-ordinator

Louise has over 16 years' experience working in a variety of roles in a multinational environment including Dell Computers.

During her time with Dell Louise received diplomas for business administration, business computing, ECDL and BPI. Louise was hired by Bluebird Care in January 2013 as care co-ordinator.

Lousie's role involves her accepting and processing changes and amendments to existing care packages and assigning care workers to customers. First point of contact for all customers and family members.
