REGISTERED NURSE

Job Specification and Description

JOB TITLE:                         Registered Nurse                 

REPORTS TO:                  Care Manager

                     

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • To provide Nursing expertise to support existing care arrangements
  • To carry out comprehensive needs assessments and develop customer care plans
  • To provide direct supervision and monitoring of care standards
  • To provide training instruction for care workers / care supervisor etc.
  • To liaise with Care Manager/Care Supervisor/Care Workers/other Health Care professionals

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Registered Nurse on live register of NMBI essential (Registered General Nurse or Registered Paediatric Nurse)
  • BLS Adult or Paediatric desirable
  • Management qualification desirable
  • Risk Management qualification desirable

 

EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of one years' experience working as a Registered General Nurse or Registered Paediatric Nurse is essential
  • Experience in mentoring/teaching/training desirable
  • Experience in management desirable
  • Computer skills desirable

KEY WORK FUNCTIONS

The Registered Nurse will:

  • Provide a high standard of customer care based on evidence based practice with reference to Bluebird Care policies and procedures
  • Have a good knowledge of quality and safety systems
  • Develop and maintain good and effective working relationships
  • Carry out staff supervision
  • Provide mentorship and training to staff as required
  • Provide constructive feedback to care workers post a supervision exercise
  • Liaise effectively with all staff within or external to Bluebird Care
  • Liaise directly with customers/family members
  • Prioritize and organize own workload Prepare reports as required
  • Carry out customer assessment, develop/ implement customer care plans based on needs identified and review accordingly
  • Support the successful implementation of quality control systems i.e. Audit
  • Have a strong knowledge of the requirements of commissioning bodies i.e. HSE
  • Provide care directly to the customer in the event of the care worker not being able to make the call
  • Ensure that staff within his /her responsibility have a clear understanding/knowledge of all policies pertaining to the safeguarding of
  • Adults/Children in receipt of Bluebird Care services

 

 

Clinical Nurse Manager 2

JOB TITLE:                         Clinical Nurse Manager 2                 

REPORTS TO:                   Care Manager

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

  • To provide Clinical Nursing Leadership and Nursing expertise in the care of service user with high complex care needs.
  • To carry out comprehensive needs assessment and develop customer care plan for a service user with high acute care needs involving tracheostomy management.
  • To provide direct supervision and monitoring of care standards
  • To provide training instruction and supervision for Nursing Staff and care workers.
  • To liaise with Care Manager /other Health Care professionals/ Multidisciplinary team.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Registered Nurse on the live register of NMBI essential
  • Background in ICU/ HDU Nursing essential
  • Risk Management qualification desirable

 

EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of two  years’ experience working as a Clinical Nurse Manager 2 in an acute medical / surgical setting  is essential
  • Experience in mentoring/teaching/training staff essential
  • Experience in staff rostering essential
  • Health Care Management experience essential (inclusive of staff  management)
  • Computer skills essential

  •      Management of tracheostomy and maintenance of respiratory function
  •      Prevention of respiratory related complications
  •      Management of Sepsis
  •       Medication Management
  •       Airway management and suction
  •       Management of Autonomic Dysreflxia
  •       Care and Management of Neurogenic Bowel
  •       Care and Maintenance of Supra pubic stoma
  •       Maintenance of Skin integrity and prevention of pressure sores
  •       Maintenance  of hydration
  •       Maintenance of nutrition
  •       Personal Hygiene, Dressing and Grooming Needs
  •       Psychosocial care needs
  •       Physio therapy and Rehabilitation
  •       Education (return to college)
