Award winning National Finalist Bluebird Care Clare

Award winning Bluebird Care Clare was a National Finalist in the National QMark Awards for Quality Management Systems.
Their nomination for the second year in a row has put them on top of all audits completed  by the Excellence Ireland Quality Association in Ireland.
The Bluebird Care National Group also scooped the overall Business Group of the Year. Known as the Oscars of Business Excellence the QMark is the highest accolade an Irish business can achieve. It is the fourth time the group has won the accolade and the third year in a row.
At the awards in the Clayton Hotel, Dublin  Kay Leahy says” I am extremely honoured and proud, given both the intense competition and the exacting standards required. It has been made possible by the committed, dedicated and hardworking staff in County Clare. So thank you all”.

Bluebird Care Takes Double Gold at National Quality Awards

Company named Business Group of the Year & Homecare Company of the Year at the National Q Mark Awards

 

Bluebird Care has just been named as Ireland’s Business Group of the Year at this year’s National Q Mark Awards.

The Bluebird Care Team were delighted to be called to the stage to receive the winner’s gold medal trophy during an exciting awards ceremony held in the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel in Dublin. Winning this award demonstrates Bluebird Care’s continued commitment to excellence within the homecare industry.

The Minister for Social Protection, Leo Varadkar TD, who attended this year’s National Q Mark Awards, said “At the heart of the Governments strategy is supporting Irish businesses through policies to create the environment for a strong economic recovery by promoting competitiveness and productivity. Quality standards and good governance enables this growth and competitiveness and it is exciting to see companies in the public, private and not for profit sectors competing side by side. These are the modern Irish businesses that are driving the engine of our recovery, and I wish them every success in the future”.

Bluebird Care provides accessible, quality, safe care for individuals of all ages in the home and community setting, operates in 26 offices throughout Ireland, and delivers over 25,000 care visits per week.

Bluebird Care dedicated this award to their 1500 Care Staff around Ireland who work so diligently on their behalf to provide a high standard of care to their customers and families on a daily basis.

Irene Collins, Managing Director of The National Q Mark Awards stated that the team in Bluebird Care did not rest on their past achievements and offered her congratulations to everyone involved. She further stated that, “when the homecare sector is finally state regulated in Ireland, Bluebird Care will be more than ready because they have been advocates for quality standards and external audit procedures for four years.”

Brian MacGoey, Managing Director of Bluebird Care Ireland, stated that it was time that all homecare companies embraced the Q Mark ahead of regulation in the marketplace.

“We want to see regulation and have publicly called for it for many years. It’s important that the sector as a whole maintains high standards, after all that’s what our customers and the HSE expect. We adhere to HSE guidelines, are mindful of the HIQA standards, have our own internal auditing procedures and in addition, we embrace the Q Mark process to ensure we are not just maintaining those standards but that we are continuously improving upon them.”

Bluebird Care in Galway also won the prestigious Homecare Company of the Year award at the national Q Mark Awards.  

Sean Lyons, Director of Bluebird Care Galway accepted the Homecare Company of the Year award for the second time in three years. “This award is dedicated to our staff who care for people who choose to remain at home. They are committed to quality care and understand how and why we have audit procedures, both internally and externally. I am absolutely thrilled to accept this award for a second time and it will only excel our passion for increasing care standards in our business.”

Bluebird Care had eight offices as finalists in the Homecare Company of the Year category, namely, Sligo/Mayo, Clare, Limerick, Kildare/Laois & Offaly, Dublin North, Dublin West, Head Office and Galway who won the title.

The Q Mark Awards are forever associated with Quality and Excellence in the minds of Irish consumers and it is the only system which allows businesses monitor 100% of their processes and procedures 100% of the time. Q Mark Homecare Company of the Year Nominations For Bluebird Care

Eight Bluebird Care offices have been nominated for the Q Mark Homecare Company of the Year Award. Bluebird Care has also been shortlisted for Business Group of the Year which we have won twice in three years, and we are the current holders of the title.

Congratulations to our Galway, Dublin North, Limerick, Dublin West and Kildare/Laois/Offaly offices as well has Head Office for displaying excellence in quality homecare standards.

Why Q Mark for Homecare?

In the absence of state regulations the Q Mark for Home and Community Care Quality Management Systems framework ensures home and community care operators have established business processes and procedures to ensure that the highest standard of care is provided to all clients and transparency for their families.

This ensures that Home and Community care providers are independently assessed in the key areas but not limited to:

Effective Management including; corporate governance, professional standards, community involvement, continuous improvement, adequate numbers of trained and appropriate skilled staff to ensure the safe delivery of care and service to service users.

Appropriate Access and Service Delivery; including assessment, care plan development and delivery, reassessment.

Service Users Rights and Responsibilities including; privacy, confidentiality, advocacy, independence and complaints management.

The Q Mark for Home and Community Care – The Only 100% Continuous Improvement Programme!

The Q Mark for Home and Community Care is a continuous improvement programme. This means that 100% of your services processes, procedures and resources are assessed on an annual basis in compliance with the Q Mark for Home and Community Care QMS framework criteria.

At the end of each annual assessment, each Home and Community Care service provider is given an extensive business report. This will identify current best practices as well as suggested areas for improvement and will provide you with the basis of a business plan for the year ahead. The report will also identify ways for the service provider to operate to the highest standard of quality care and provide an excellent quality of life for service users.

During subsequent assessments, all recommendations from previous reports will be assessed to ensure that every Home and Community Care provider continues to improve their standard of operation year on year.

Using The Q Mark framework ensures that a Home and Community Care provider has accountability in every part of their service, whilst enhancing consumer and client confidence. It also allows for easy preparation for any regulatory authority audit e.g. NERA.

What are the Q Mark Awards?

The National Q Mark awards are widely recognised as the Oscars of Business Excellence.

The awards night celebrates the success of businesses over a range of sectors that review 100% of their processes and procedures 100% of the time so that they continually operate best practice standards.

All companies that are audited during the ‘awards window’ 1st April – 31st March are considered to compete for a National Q Mark Award. However, only business that achieve the highest scores at audit are shortlisted in their relevant category.

Once Shortlisted, all companies must complete a highly detailed submission document. This submission document is then presented to an expert panel of independent judges. Our judging panel includes experts from the areas of Food Safety, Employment Law, Academia, Business & Quality to name but a few.

Bluebird Care Galway Wins National Q Mark Title

It’s official! Bluebird Care Galway, based in Parkmore, has just been named as the Best Homecare in Ireland for Quality Management Systems at this year’s National Q Mark Awards. They were also runners up to Road Bridge as National Winner’s for “Best Company in Ireland for Quality Management Systems”.

Hailed as “The Pioneers of Business Excellence” and “The Innovators that will take Ireland to greater heights of Quality and Excellence”, the team from Bluebird Care Galway was beaming with pride as they were called to the stage to receive the winner’s trophy during a glamorous awards ceremony held in the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel in Dublin.

Director of Bluebird Care Galway Sean Lyons says, “The whole team are very excited to have won this prestigious award as it’s independent recognition of the high quality of the Homecare service our Care Staff provide to our Customers.

“This award recognises the expert management skills of our Care Manager Carolyn Corless who works tirelessly and professionally to ensure that our Customers receive the very highest standards of care and she also ensures that our large team of Care Assistants work in a professional environment at all times.

“Carolyn is ably supported by a strong management team who work exceptionally hard to ensure that our Customers receive only the highest standard of care possible. Finally Sean says that he would like to thank all our many Customers for their continued support as without them nothing is possible.”

In the face of increasingly competitive markets and mounting pressure on companies to produce goods and services at low cost, many of us now have concerns about who is protecting us when it comes to quality testing and best practice. This is why it is so reassuring to know that EIQA – The Guardians of The Q Mark, are still rigorously auditing all types of businesses and will only award the coveted Q Mark to those that operate at standards far above the current legislative requirements and conduct their affairs with the consumer’s best interests in mind.

Bluebird Care Galway was founded in October 2008 and currently employs a dedicated team of one hundred and four people throughout Galway. The service provides domiciliary care both on behalf of the HSE and through private home visits. Bluebird Care Galway offers services which are essential to clients’ standard of living, especially considering many of these clients require assistance in order to go about their daily routines. Bluebird prides itself on providing a compassionate, top class service and prioritises the highest standards across every area of its operations.

As they left the stage having been presented with their award, Carolyn Corless, Care Manager at Bluebird Care Galway, said “To be a recipient of a National Q Mark Award is a tremendous achievement.
