“I’m not getting old, I’m just getting started,” says George Hook as he takes his seat on a comfy sofa to announce Bluebird Care’s sponsorship of ‘Hook’s Saturday Sit-In’ on Newstalk.
A committed ambassador for older people, George is adamant that the theme of ageing is one which he will not be silenced on.
“In fact, it is true to say that older people in Ireland are now much younger. They are retiring early to avoid their pensions being taxed at higher levels, but it leaves our working economy a much poorer place. Older Ireland, if that’s what you want to call it, has a new face,” says George.
George’s vociferious opinions on positive ageing and older people is a feature of ‘Hook’s Saturday Sit-In’ as he pairs up with Tom McGurk for a feature called ‘Two Grumpy Old Men.’
Eddie O’Toole, Operations Director with Bluebird Care says his company has partnered with Newstalk on this particular sponsorship as it seeks to further expand the brand profile of Bluebird Care who are key players in the Homecare market in Ireland.
“We are delighted to come on board as sponsors of ‘Hook’s Saturday Sit-In’. George is a great ambassador for older people and is very interested in the subject. Our business is primarily about helping people live independently whether they are recuperating from illness, disabled or older. With a nationwide network of 23 offices covering every corner of Ireland, Newstalk gives us the coverage we require.”
‘Hook’s Saturday Sit-In is aired on Newstalk on Saturday mornings from 10.00am to 12noon. George gives listeners the chance to email “Dear George” for advice on anything from bedroom to boardroom! He’ll also have travel tips, ways to save on your bills, advice on kick starting a new business and much more.
