Aisling gets an early Christmas Present

Aisling O’Lochlainn from Ennis in Co. Clare is presented with her Applie iPAD from William Ring of Bluebird Care Limerick.

Aisling O’Lochlainn got an early Christmas present today when she was presented with an Apple iPAD by Bluebird Care.

Aisling nominated her mother Anne for our “Care to Mention” facebook competition which invited members of the public from across Ireland to share inspiring stories of people who showed acts of caring that had an impact on one or more lives.

“Anne O’Lochlainn’s story inspired us all at Bluebird Care,” said Eddie O’Toole, Operations Director. “Her dedication to caring for her children, parents and as an SNA is remarkable. We are delighted she is our winner.”

Aisling was presented with her Apple iPAD by William Ring from Bluebird Care Limerick.

Her nomination for her mum Anne is detailed below.

“My Mam has been a carer all her life, from looking after her five younger siblings, to being an SNA to children with special needs and looking after her parents when they were ill. My grandmother suffered with Diabetes, Alzheimers and heart conditions which eventually led to her passing away. My Mam was incredible – looking after everyone and carrying on. Just last week, my grandfather had a massive heart attack and then three more. He ‘died’ twice and the doctors cracked all of his ribs just to resuscitate him. He managed to survive, despite the doctors telling us to say goodbye and the priest anointing his body. My Mam was the rock of our family and has been caring for my grandfather since along with her siblings, ensuring everyone is looked after. She goes to him first thing in the morning and puts on a fire, then makes his lunch and in the evening she cooks him a dinner. She never asks for anything in return. She is the best Mam ever.”
