There was a full house for the very first Bluebird Care “Safe@Home” Security Seminar in Letterkenny last month.
Hosted by Marty Kelly, Director Bluebird Care Donegal, the event saw a number of key speakers address the issue of home security and crime.
Keynote speaker Sgt. Paul Wallace, Crime Prevention Unit in the Donegal Division said that while crime was down, “there has been a spike in home burglaries. However, he said there was a heightened fear about crime with greater media reporting.”

Marty Kelly told the audience that Bluebird Care was a “sounding board” for older people’s issues and that they were committed to raising them publicly and in forums such as the nationwide series of security seminars.
The event was chaired by Head of News at Highland Radio, Greg Hughes. Other speakers included Lourda Nee and Kelly Pyper from Letterkenny CDP who are project workers on the local Community Alert Scheme. Meanwhile Jim Porter from Sheridan Security demonstrated home security alarm products and other devices.
