More Q Mark Success

Five more of our offices have been awarded the Q Mark for Quality from EIQA.

They are:

Bluebird Care Kildare/Laois/Offaly

Bluebird Care Meath

Bluebird Care Cork

Bluebird Care North East (Cavan / Monaghan / Louth)

Bluebird Care Tipperary / East Cork

This now brings to 17 the number of offices awarded the prestigious accolade for quality management systems in homecare.

Operations Director, Eddie O’Toole says the company is coming close to “being the first franchised homecare company in Ireland with all its offices accredited with the Q Mark. We just have one office to complete the process.”

It has also been confirmed that four Bluebird Care offices have been shortlisted for the 2013 National Q Mark Awards to be held in Dublin in September.

George Hook Launches 5th Irish Pensioners Handbook for Older People & Carers

A second print-run to meet demand marks the launch of the 5th annual Irish Pensioners Handbook.

The free publication, which contains over 200 pages of helpful hints, tips, articles and local directories for older people and carers, is now available from Bluebird Care offices nationwide.

“It’s a great coffee table read, but more than that it’s a handbook of helpful hints and tips with practical information and a great directory. I’m hooked and others will too when they get their hands on it. Information is vital for older people and carers. I’m in the business of broadcasting so I know this.” says Newstalk’s George Hook who this week launched the Irish Pensioners Handbook.

In her foreword, Kathleen Lynch, Minister of State, Department of Health with responsibility for Disability, Older People, Equality and Mental Health says:

“I am delighted to see that this year marks the fifth edition of the Irish Pensioners Handbook, which by now is a well proven resource for pensioners, their families and many health care professionals.

The increasing number of people over age 65 will inevitably pose further challenges not only for our health and social care services, but for society as a whole. These challenges equally contain great opportunities, if we only have the foresight and courage to grasp them. As Minister with responsibility for Older People, I am keenly aware of the importance of “positive ageing” for our collective future. The Government is therefore progressing the new National Positive Ageing Strategy, to better inform on a wide front policies and service developments for older people in Ireland.”

The Irish Pensioners Handbook is a FREE guide providing practical information and advice for seniors and carers. Download it here.

Eddie O’Toole Operations Director with Bluebird Care who sponsored this years edition says their offices located in 23 counties have been inundated with requests for the free Handbook. “The publication is a valuable resource and feedback so far has been extremely positive. We have also uploaded the electronic version on our website so it’s there at the touch of a button. But we also printed an extra 10,000 to meet growing demand and with just one call to our office we will post you out a copy. The articles we commissioned are based on the information older people and carers are looking for from our staff, so we decided to ask a number of medical, financial and health experts to contribute to it.”

You can also pick up your hard copy from your local Bluebird Care office nationwide or call Bluebird Care on 0818 227 052 or email info@bluebirdcare.ie. Find your local Bluebird Care office by clicking http://bluebirdcare.ie/contact-bluebirdcare/locations/
