Bluebird Care Carlow & Kilkenny
The Special Olympics World Games were hosted in Ireland 10 years ago. To mark the occasion Bluebird Care has launched a nationwide fundraising campaign which will see them challenge their Directors, Managers and staff to do ‘Summit for the Weekend’ all in aid of Special Olympics Ireland.
“18 offices. 18 challenges. One Target. Because no challenge is insurmountable when it comes to the Special Olympics Ireland athletes,” says Eddie O’Toole, Operations Director with Bluebird Care.
Bluebird Care Carlow/Kilkenny has decided to take on the challenge by hosting the ‘Barrow trail Whitewater Challenge’ on Sunday 1st of September from 9.30am until 1pm.
Since the dawn of Barge transportation on the Barrow River in 1790, this ancient highway of trade and communication was changed forever. For this event the Bluebird Care team will follow the trail of the oldest boat people in Ireland. In order to get to their prize in old monastic Graignamanagh – just like the Vikings before us – they will have to shoot the weirs and ride the rapids on a thrilling trail using traditional Canadian canoes. While this challenge is suitable for all the family, a keen sense of adventure will be required
Anybody in Carlow or Kilkenny is welcome to take part in this event. You can meet the Bluebird Care team at the River Barrow in Borris Co Carlow.
