Go Blue for Autism Awareness Month

April is Autism Awareness Month

The seventh annual World Autism Awareness Day is April 2, 2014. Every year, autism organisations around the world celebrate the day with unique fundraising and awareness-raising events. How will you celebrate? To share your events, photos and Autism Kindness Acts (#AKA) go to Autismspeaks.org/LIUB.

And if you’re on Twitter, use #LIUB to share your experience helping light the world up blue this April.

Bluebird Care is supporting Autism Awareness month by publishing a series of articles on Autism on our Blog throughout the month of April. Our team across the country have experience working with adults and children with Autism and while we are already ‘blue’, we will promote and educate by sharing interesting articles and links throughout the month of April.

Safe@Home Security Seminar Wexford

FREE Public Event hosted by Bluebird Care

Bluebird Care will host a security seminar next month in Wexford which is open to members of the public, residents associations, active retirement groups and community groups. The seminar takes place in the Maldron Hotel on Thursday 10th April.

Organised in response to a growing fear among older people and community groups about security at home, the events are free and open to everyone.  The seminar will hear from the local Crime Prevention Officer who will outline the key steps to take to keep your home secure against intruders. He will also offer advice to people living on their own.

Richard Cotter of Park100 Security will also give a demonstration of home security devices.

Michael Corcoran, Director of Bluebird Care says, “There has been a 60% increase in calls to Senior Line – a freephone line for older people – worried about security at home.  And this is also reflected in our own network as we hear anecdotal evidence from the thousands of older people that we work with on a daily basis.  We are inviting members of local communities, neighbourhood watch schemes, residents associations and other interested groups along. There is a responsibility on all of us to take a ‘community approach’ in terms of being aware of older people living around us.

The security seminar takes place from 3:00-4:30pm on Thursday 10th April in the Maldron Hotel, Wexford.

This free event is open to members of the public, active ageing groups, residents’ associations, community organisations, neighbourhood watch schemes, media and even business owners who may be concerned about their own home security.
