Catherine O’Leary, who suffers from ‘Locked-In’ syndrome with her parents Pat and Margaret after she returned home after six years.
Locked-in syndrome (LIS) is a condition where a person is aware and awake, but cannot move or communicate verbally due to complete paralysis of nearly all the voluntary muscles in the body, except the eyes.
Catherine, who cannot speak, swallow or move, requires 24/7 monitoring and medical surveillance.
