IRISH TV broadcasts Bluebird Care I-Care Awards Feature

Irish TV will air Bluebird Care I-Care Awards Feature on SKY 191
Broadcaster George Hook hosted the significant awards ceremony which was held recently at a high profile event in the Radisson Blu St. Helen’s Hotel, Dublin.

Bluebird Care asked its 1,500 carers nationwide to tell their personal story of why they chose a career in care. All entrants were asked to submit a video, poem or story to depict their #myicarestory.

The competition was open to all Bluebird Care healthcare staff working in the community setting in every corner of Ireland – healthcare assistants, nurses, personal assistants and support staff.

Bluebird Care are an Irish-owned company with a presence in each of the 26 counties. We provide quality ongoing care and support for individuals aged from new born right up until end of life.
“Bluebird Care values greatly the caregivers in our network. Without them we cannot ensure that people of all ages and varying degrees of ability get the chance to remain at home. We operate in urban and rural areas and also in the islands around our shores,” said Eddie O’Toole, Operations Director with Bluebird Care.

“I would like to pay tribute to our hundreds of carers who entered our i-CARE campaign and most especially to our finalists and winners. It is very important to acknowledge the support our care staff get from their expert team in each of our local offices – from the director to the care manager, supervisor, care co-ordinator and admin team members. I would like to thank George Hook who is a great ambassador for older people,” added Mr. O’Toole.

Managing Director of Bluebird Care said, “This campaign reminds us why homecare is such an important option for people of all ages and all abilities who want to remain in their own home. We are very well aware of the work our carers do every day in every pocket of Ireland and it’s time to celebrate them.”

Robbie Ball from Ennis in Co. Clare was named the National winner of Bluebird Care’s I-Care Awards. Robbie Ball said he was “humbled and shocked” with his win.
The external judging panel was made up of: Eamon Timmins, CEO Age Action, Maureen Kavanagh, CEO Active Retirement Ireland, Stephen Cluskey, Founder and Susie Hall, Committee Member Alliance of Retired Public Servants

Eamon Timmins described Robbie’s entry as, “a moving and articulate tale of how care changes lives and how the smallest things mean the biggest things for many people who are suffering illness or ability challenges. Robbie is a shining light in the healthcare industry and his story illustrates how important carers are in this country. I, along with my fellow judges would like to congratulate him on his national i-CARE award from Bluebird Care.”
