Bluebird Care, an independent health and social care service provider, welcomes the comments made by the CEO of the Health Information and Equality Authority (HIQA), Phelim Quinn, in relation to the statutory regulation of all domicillary care services and community based services, during a recent meeting with the Oireachtas Future of Healthcare Committee.
Mr. Quinn informed the Committee that, “HIQA supports the extension of home care packages, but is concerned about the vulnerabilities of people in receipt of personal care and support services within their homes”
“Therefore, we must extend statutory regulation to cover all domiciliary care services, and other community-based social services, in order to ensure that vulnerable people are safe and receiving the best-possible support.”
The Managing Director of Bluebird Care Ireland, Brian MacGoey, strongly supports the views shared by Mr Quinn.
“We want to see regulation and have publicly called for it for many years. We believe the development and introduction of National Standards within this sector and their subsequent implementation and monitoring is key to the provision and delivery of safe quality care to all service users/customers who access such services.”
Bluebird Care has 26 offices throughout Ireland providing health and social care services within the home setting and local community. Quality and safety is at the core of all its work.
Service provision is nurse-led and all care staff are trained to place the customer at the heart and centre of every interaction and to provide care with kindness, compassion, consideration and respect.
All Bluebird Care offices are independently owned and managed.
