Bluebird Care Dublin South launches “Voice of the Carer” programme!

Bluebird Care Dublin South launched its “Voice of the Carer” programme on Tuesday 28th of August 2018.   The initiative is unique to Bluebird Care (Dublin South) and is a programme of activity for care team members that provides them with refresher training, with an opportunity to have their voices heard and with the opportunity to be rewarded for their contribution to the success of Bluebird Care Dublin South.

The first part of the day was all about refresher training for care team members. At Bluebird Care we are committed to supporting our care teams and providing them with the necessary tools to carry out their work and we focussed these training sessions around Mental and Physical Health.

Mind Your Head teaches the importance of being responsible for your own mental health. During the session we discussed feelings of loss, anger, and frustration in certain work situations and how to deal with these emotions. The benefits of mindfulness, the science behind it and a ten-minute practical mindfulness/relaxation was completed with employees and a feedback session after the event.

Mind Your Spine teaches the importance of the employee’s physical well-being and how important the spine is and why healthcare workers need to use TILE to assess their patient handling techniques. Various forms of equipment and aides are shown and a general discussion on the correct practical patient handling is shown.

The second part of the day was all about hearing the voice of our carers and a “WIFLE” (What I feel like expressing ) session was used to provide an open safe forum to enable care team members discuss what is happening out in the field and to offer feedback on how things could be done better. The feedback provided during this session was invaluable and the Dublin South team are already looking at how to implement changes suggested. So watch this space!!!

The final part of the day was all about rewarding our care team members. The Dublin South “Refer a Friend Scheme” was launched and the first gift voucher being presented to a lucky recipient who had referred a friend to work with Bluebird Care. Attendees were presented with a gift vouchers to thank them for their continual commitment to providing great care to their customers and the day was finished off with a cheese and wine party to thank everyone for their participation and allowed everyone the opportunity to relax and have a chat.

The day was a huge success and the team at Bluebird Care South are looking forward to the next “Voice of the Carer” event.
