New online course to explore impact of physical exercise on cardiovascular disease, mental health problems and cancer.
A free online course from Trinity College Dublin will allow learners worldwide to discover the link between physical exercise and combating of serious diseases. ’Exercise Prescription for the Prevention and Treatment of Disease’ is a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) run in partnership with FutureLearn. This two week course, led by Dr Cuisle Forde and Dr Aine Kelly, begins on the 14th of January 2019 and will explore the evidence behind exercise prescription, and how it has evolved as a tool for preventing and treating disease.
Geared towards healthcare professionals, the course details how physiological adaptations to exercise can translate to improved health outcomes, and will help enhance confidence in exercise prescription as a treatment.
The course will address the role of exercise in the treatment of a variety of clinical populations including people with cardiovascular disease, mental health problems, paediatric conditions and cancer. Available to anyone with internet access across multiple devices including desktops, tablets and smartphones, the innovative course will enable healthcare professionals anywhere to experience a Trinity education.
