The Bluebird Care 2016 Franchise of the Year Award winner has continued to grow consistently, and has been introducing excellent systems and trialling new initiatives to overcome challenges in our sector. This franchise continues to show strong leadership under considerable staffing pressure. They have a strong team in place and have built their brand considerably at a local level.

This year’s Spirit of Bluebird Care Award winner goes to a franchise that has had a strong year of growth, successful recruitment and consistent local marketing. As one of our younger franchises this office has put in a great team and they display an enthusiasm worthy of this award.

Marketing Award 

The 2016 winner of the Bluebird Care Marketing Award goes to an office that has a strong appreciation for and a proactive attitude towards local marketing. 

They are active almost weekly on marketing campaigns and get involved in community and charity initiatives. 

For promoting the brand of Bluebird Care consistently and recognising the need to drive local marketing efforts we are delighted to honour Bluebird Care Kerry/West Cork with the 2016 Marketing Award.

Health Training & Wellness Workshop

The Irish Association of Healthcare Assistants hosted its inaugural Health Training and Wellness Workshop for healthcare assistants on Saturday 19th November in Marymount Hospice from 9am to 6pm.

Bluebird Care exhibited at the workshop along with the other associations such as The Alzheimer Society of Ireland, Epilepsy Ireland, Parkinson’s Association of Ireland, The College of Progressive Education, Safe Care Technologies, EliteGym displaying Robotic Ecoskeleton Walking and Cork Arc Cancer Society to mention a few.

The workshops included CPR training, patient moving and handling, nutrition for the elderly, dementia training and much more. 

Director of Bluebird Care Cork, Don O’Riordan says, “The Workshop was well attended on the day and will prove to be a valuable meeting and educational event for healthcare assistants in the future. Bluebird Care was delighted to be associated with the workshop and has committed to returning next year.”



Dementia Elevator Programme DCU

Dementia Awareness Training in association with Bluebird Care and the DCU Dementia Elevator Team

In Ireland, it is currently estimated that 46,000 people have some form of dementia, and these figures will increase dramatically over the next 30 years.  There may be people in your family or community living with dementia that you are unaware of and in need of your support.

With this in mind, Enniscorthy Library has teamed up with Bluebird Care Wexford and the DCU Dementia Elevator team to bring you Dementia Awareness Training which is an introduction to assisting people to recognise the emotions, goals and coping strategies of the person with dementia.

Who Should Attend?

The content of this programme in general will be very beneficial to anyone who wishes to learn more about dementia, it

is also widely applicable to families of a person with dementia.



·       To develop familiarity and raise awareness of dementia

·       Break down the stigma associated with Dementia

·       Encourage the support of people with dementia in their community

·       Equip people with the skills to support and engage appropriately with people with dementia.


·       Recognise when a person may have dementia

·       Identify common challenges a person with dementia may encounter in public situations

·       Consider a range of options for supporting the person when faced with these challenges

·       Identify ways of improving our environment to become more dementia friendly.

Who are Bluebird Care?

Bluebird Care provide Home Care services throughout County Wexford to people of all ages and all abilities so that they can live independently at home and in their community.  Bluebird Care provides care and support to older people, people with physical disabilities, people with intellectual disabilities as well as care for children.  
What is Dementia Elevator?

Dementia Elevator is an education and empowerment programme to help individuals, community services and health care services engage with and support people affected by dementia. The project is a partnership between Dublin City University and the HSE.

Citizen Advocacy Project for People With Disabilities Focus Group

Bluebird Care is delighted to attend and exhibit at the Citizen Advocacy Project for People with Disabilities (South-East) Focus Group.

The focus groups for the Citizen Advocacy Project for People with Disabilities are taking place in Carlow, Kilkenny, Waterford, Wexford and Tipperary.

We will attend the upcoming event in Enniscorthy on 7th October having attended the Kilkenny event.
