Anne Marie’s Story of Independent Living

“I never thought I’d ever be able to live on my own. This is a dream come true.” – Anne Marie

In the summer of 2013 Anne Marie Curnyn from Co. Meath realised a life-long dream and that was to live on her own, in her own home. With the support of Bluebird Care and the HSE a package of supports was put in place and on 8th July 2013, Anne Marie’s dream became a reality.

Anne Marie has a learning disability and previous to living on her own, lived with her parents, however she desperately wanted to make her own choices in life. In this video she tells her heart-warming story of how that dream came true and the impact it has had on her.

We also hear from JJ Fay, Director of Bluebird Care in Meath who was instrumental in organising her initial move to independent living and now JJ’s team supports Anne Marie in her new life.
