Bluebird Care Welcome’s HIQA’s Comments on Home Care Regulation

Bluebird Care, an independent health and social care service provider, welcomes the comments made by the CEO of the Health Information and Equality Authority (HIQA), Phelim Quinn, in relation to the statutory regulation of all domicillary care services and community based services, during a recent meeting with the Oireachtas Future of Healthcare Committee.

Mr. Quinn informed the Committee that, “HIQA supports the extension of home care packages, but is concerned about the vulnerabilities of people in receipt of personal care and support services within their homes”

“Therefore, we must extend statutory regulation to cover all domiciliary care services, and other community-based social services, in order to ensure that vulnerable people are safe and receiving the best-possible support.”

The Managing Director of Bluebird Care Ireland strongly supports the views shared by Mr Quinn.

“We want to see regulation and have publicly called for it for many years. We believe the development and introduction of National Standards within this sector and their subsequent implementation and monitoring is key to the provision and delivery of safe quality care to all service users/customers who access such services.”

Bluebird Care has 26 offices throughout Ireland providing health and social care services within the home setting and local community. Quality and safety is at the core of all its work.

Service provision is nurse-led and all care staff are trained to place the customer at the heart and centre of every interaction and to provide care with kindness, compassion, consideration and respect.

All Bluebird Care offices are independently owned and managed.

Bring Care Home | Bluebird Care Launches TV Campaign

On January 2nd, we launch our first ever TV campaign which coincides with 2017 being our 10th year in business.

Our 30-second TV commercial will run throughout the year on multiple Sky, TV3 and RTÉ channels. We are delighted to share this commercial with you and of course would love your feedback. Watch the extended version below.

As Ireland’s population continues to grow and the size of our ageing demographic increases, we thought it was necessary to educate Irish people about home care services and what’s involved.

This TV campaign will be backed by a complementary radio campaign across RTÉ Radio 1, Lyric FM and Today FM. We will also drive educational messages around home care on our online channels: namely on our website and on our social media accounts – Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and our YouTube Channel.

If you would like to contribute to our dedicated blog on our website: The Home Care Blog about any area of home care, for example, your experiences or indeed your vision for home care in Ireland, then please get in touch. Email – we would love to share your story.

This year we want to help people understand how home care has evolved in Ireland and that quality and safe care is being provided by the private sector, in collaboration with the HSE to the very highest of standards
