Bluebird Care Named Business Group Of The Year In National Q Mark Awards

Bluebird Care, headquartered in Limerick, have been named Business Group of the Year in Ireland at this year’s National Q Mark Awards.

Hailed as “the custodians of business excellence”, the team from Bluebird Care were beaming with pride as they were called to the stage to receive the winner’s trophy during an exciting awards ceremony held in the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel in Dublin.

The Q Mark Awards are indelibly associated with quality and excellence in the minds of Irish consumers and is the only system which allows businesses to monitor 100% of their processes and procedures 100% of the time. Winning this award has shown Bluebird Care truly cares about its customers and is willing to go the extra mile to ensure that it achieves the highest possible standards at all times.

The Tánaiste and Minister for Social Protection, Joan Burton TD, who attended this year’s National Q Mark Awards, said “At the heart of our jobs plan is supporting Irish businesses providing products and services to the highest international standards and creating good, sustainable employment. It is impressive to see tonight, so many Irish businesses from all sectors and counties embedding quality standards as a key part of their offering to customers. Bluebird Care is one of Ireland’s leading homecare providers operating since 2007. They have a nationwide network with offices in each of the 26 counties, employing 1,500 staff and providing care and assistance to a diverse customer base including older persons, individuals with a disability (intellectual and physical) dementia, children and more recently customers with high complex care needs. As they left the stage having been presented with their award, Eddie O’Toole, Operations Director said “Receiving an award from Excellence Ireland Quality Association (EIQA) for Business Group of the Year for the second time in three consecutive years is testament to Bluebird Care’s ongoing and unfaltering commitment to quality standards in homecare in Ireland. As the first franchised homecare company to have all its offices Q Mark approved, we are absolutely thrilled with this award as are our 17 Directors and 1,500 staff. The dedication our network has to the caring profession is evidenced by this nomination.”

Known as ‘The Oscars of Business Excellence’, The Q Mark Award is the highest accolade an Irish business can achieve, given both the intense competition and the exacting standards required.

Irene Collins, Managing Director of The National Q Mark Awards said, “Bluebird Care are innovative in the way they manage their franchise operations. They are the only homecare provider in Ireland to have all their franchisees be assessed in compliance with the requirements of the Q Mark for Quality Management Systems.”

Bluebird Care Shortlisted for Three Q Mark Awards

Three Bluebird Care offices have been shortlisted for the prestigious Q Mark award for ‘Homecare Company of the Year’.

Bluebird Care offices in Meath, Carlow/Kilkenny/Waterford and Galway are in the running for 2015 homecare company of the year. The team in Galway led by Sean Lyons actually scooped the title last year and the Meath office led by Gavin Kane and JJ Fay were 2014 runners up. Brian Egan and his team in Carlow/Kilkenny/Waterford are hoping to do well this year also bearing in mind they were finalists in the 2013 awards.

The Q Mark Awards are organised by Excellence Ireland Quality Association and the awards process reflects a commitment to continuous improvement.

Speaking this week Eddie O’Toole, Operations Director with Bluebird Care said they are both excited and humbled by the triple award nominations. “In the business of homecare quality standards must always be delivered upon. Bluebird Care was the very first franchised homecare company to have all its offices Q Mark certified by EIQA so meeting and exceeding the highest standards of care is the central ethos of our nationwide network of homecare companies. Bluebird Care Galway – National Award Nominee, Job Opportunities & Continued Investment in Quality Care

Later this month Bluebird Care will attend the National Q Mark Awards in Dublin in recognition of their commitment to excellence in quality homecare. Bluebird Care in Galway has been shortlisted for Homecare Company of the Year while the national organisation has been shortlisted for Business Group of the Year.

Sean Lyons, Director of Bluebird Care in Galway says the nominations are a reflection of their investment in and commitment to quality care. “It’s no surprise that we are shortlisted for Business Group of the Year for two consecutive years. We won the award last year and we have built on that success this by continuing to invest in quality standards.

“I am particularly pleased that our office in Galway has been nominated for Homecare Company of the Year and this is simply due to the hard work and commitment of our entire team led by Carolyn Corless who consider care a career and not just a job.’

Bluebird Care has been operating in Galway City and County for the past six years and are experiencing year-on-year growth. Sean Lyons says this is good news for the local economy as they recently launched yet another recruitment campaign.

Galway and Meath shortlisted for Quality in Healthcare

Two Bluebird Care offices have been shortlisted for the national Q Mark Awards. Bluebird Care Galway and Meath will attend the national Q Mark awards in Dublin in September.

Organised by Excellence Ireland Quality Association (EIQA), the awards celebrate the drive, commitment and achievements of all nominated companies, committed to quality in the island of Ireland.
